Metropolitan Projectes
Strategic projects
Transforming a metropolis requires the creation and realisation of new projects. Projects that can bring to fruition the ideas and knowledge arising from the the diversity of all people and organisations working and acting for its advancement. Ideas and realities are therefore the two factors in the success of a metropolis and a way of measuring its capacity to innovate and grow.
The PEMB highlights this transformation with its map of strategic metropolitan projects: it positions them geographically and describes projects that provide elements of improvement in the surrounding conditions in order to take on the new economic and social challenges of this territory of 36 municipalities that contains more than three million people and a wide, diverse network of actors in economic, social and knowledge terms.

Operational projects
The map of strategic metropolitan projects, updated and published by the PEMB every year, underlines the vitality of the metropolitan area of Barcelona and helps us to locate the projects that are bringing relevant and strategic change in the different spheres of the metropolitan context.
Projects completed during the year and those in their final phase are classified as operative. This allows us to see, over time, how they end up becoming reality.
There are currently 40 operative projects, distributed among the following areas:
Mobility
Strategic Sectors
Infrastrutures and Facilities with Urban Impact
Environment
Knowledge
