Below is a brief description of the Strategic Plan’s institutional relations with other institutions in Catalonia, in Spain and abroad during 2007.

This interaction has been grouped into two blocks:

• Conferences, congresses and seminars attended by members of the Plan’s Coordination Office.
• Reception of important public figures, delegations, institutions and others that have come to visit the Plan for information or consultation.

PEMB PARTICIPATION AT CONFERENCES, CONGRESSES AND SEMINARS

METROPOLITAN AREA / CATALONIA

6, 7 and 8 March. Participation at the meeting hosted by the Sant Cugat del Vallès Town Council, to discuss the city’s candidacy as a headquarters for the European Institute of Technology (EIT).
14 March. Presentation of “Planificació estratègica i desenvolupament local: Metròpoli Barcelona” [Strategic Planning and Local Development: Barcelona Metropolis] at the seminar titled, “L’Anoia, un espai amb potencial estratègic” [Anoia, A Place with Strategic Potential], hosted by the Igualada Town Council’s Economic Promotion Department.
29 March. Participation at the conference, “Territoris amb estratègia” [Territories with Strategy], hosted by the El Garraf Regional Council.
29 and 30 March. Participation at the seminar titled “Les noves empreses innovadores i el suport del capital risc en l’impuls econòmic d’un país” [New Innovative Enterprises and Risk Capital Support in the Economic Promotion of a Country], hosted by Aula Barcelona – CIDOB.
17 April. Participation in the lunch debates on “El paper estratègic de la universitat en el dinamisme de la societat” [The Strategic Role of the University as a Driving Force for Society], hosted by the Social Council of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
26 April. Participation at the First Thematic Conference, “La planificació estratègica: experiències territorials” [Strategic Planning: Territorial Experiences], hosted by the Strategic Plan of the Camp de Tarragona.
24 May. Work session on “La política europea d’R+D+I: prioritats i instruments de finançament” [European R&D&I Policy: Priorities and Financing Instruments], hosted by the Catalan Regional Government’s Secretary for the European Union.
24 May. Participation in the Master Course titled “La ciutat” [The City].
16 July. Presentation at the course titled “Polítiques públiques per a la competitivitat regional. La regió metropolitana de Barcelona com a exemple” [“Public Policies for Regional Competitiveness. The Metropolitan Region of Barcelona as an Example], hosted by the Institute of Regional and Metropolitan Studies of Barcelona (IERMB), within the CUIMPB’s summer course schedule.
6 November. Presentation titled “Les àrees metropolitanes i la globalització” [Metropolitan Areas and Globalisation] at the conference “La Lleida del futur: model de desenvolupament econòmic de la ciutat i de la seva àrea d’influència” [The Lleida of the Future: An Economic Development Model for the City and its Scope of Influence], hosted by the Association of Professional Economists of Catalonia.
7 November. Lecture during the autumn courses on “Planificació estratègica territorial, 20 anys pensant i construint el futur” [Strategic Territorial Planning, 20 Years Planning and Building the Future], hosted by the CUIMPB.
26 and 27 November. Presentation of the conclusions of the report drawn up by Working Group 2, led by the PEMB, at the Seventh Conference of the PEC (City Education Project): “Educació en xarxa: els projectes integrals d’educació a Barcelona” [Network Education: Full-scale Education Projects in Barcelona].

5-6 February, Saragossa. Participation at the Eleventh Iberian Meeting of Urban and Territorial Strategic Plan Directors, which was hosted by Ebrópolis and centred on “Influencia de los eventos internacionales en las ciudades” [The Influence of International Events in Cities].
17 October, Donostia-San Sebastian. Meeting of the Spanish sub-network of the CIDEU.

12 January, Lyon (France). Presentation of the Strategic Plan to the members of the Chief Executive International Network (CEIN).
3 February, Teramo (Italy). Conference on “La cultura i els sectors quinaris en la planificació estratègica de Barcelona” [Culture and the Quinary Sectors in the Strategic Planning of Barcelona].
8-9 February, Leon (France)). COMPETE Project conference on “Cluster Strategies”.
28-31 March, Sofia (Bulgaria). Work meeting of the network for the European project, ACRE. Barcelona’s participation was coordinated by Montserrat Pareja’s team, from the University of Barcelona. The Plan took part as a local partner.
4-5 June, London (England). Final conference of the COMPETE Project.
