Accessibility
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), via the Web Access Initiative (WAI), proposes guidelines for access to website content in order to remove any barriers that limit the right of people with disabilities to access information and communication. The website of the Strategic Metropolitan Plan of Barcelona complies with access standards in the following way:
- The size of the lettering is not fixed: users can adapt it using the icons A+ / A- to increase or decrease the size of the letters.
- The structure (XHTML) and appearance (CSS) of the pages are independent: screen readers used by people with impaired sight and the blind can read the document logically.
- The content can be understood without needing to see the images: these always have alternative descriptions.
- Understanding the information never depends on the use of colour.
